Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
May peace blessing and mercy of all mighty Allah be on all of us.
I hope you all are enjoying the Boys Weekend School thus far, and have gained valuable knowledge from your time spent here. My name is Waqas Ali, and I have been involved in the Pickering community for over 10 years in various roles, mainly as a volunteer. Now I will be joining you as your new principal as we embark on a journey to make your weekend school experience like never before.
Previously, I have had the privilege to be a part of various programs here at the Pickering Islamic Centre. I have held many roles, such as managing Summer Camp (2011-2017), co-coordinating Ilminars (2010-2017), Family Nights, and Retreat programs, acting as a basketball coach in DMAA, and teaching in the Saturday school in 2012. Through these programs, I have accumulated the experience and knowledge with which I wish to take our Saturday School to new heights, inshaAllah.
I wish to utilize my experience and build a Saturday School program like never before. We will be introducing a theme based learning concept that builds the foundation in our children for the following years. Simultaneously, we will be gathering your feedback to shape the program as it grows. Our goal over the years is to instill confidence in kids about their identity as Muslims and define our role in society. We aim to create leaders of tomorrow by using the methodology of Prophet Muhammad (saw) that
The leader of a nation is the one who serves them
There is a famous saying “knowledge is power”, however, knowledge by itself is unavailing. In truth, the “Use of knowledge is power”. Not only is it important for our children to have knowledge but to implement what they have learnt and only then will it be of benefit.
I am a firm believer in the saying “actions speak louder than words” and this has always been my style of work. Over the next few weeks we wish to bring positive changes and inshAllah with those changes build a better and brighter future for our kids.
